story, act by act breakdown - WIP

 Story

Act 1: The Unsunken Lands

Scene one: Eva wakes up, catches up with her father a little, then she leaves to complete some errands.

Scene two: Eva runs around the peaceful village for a bit. We get to see and know the inhabitants. There is some talk about weird creatures being seen near the coasts, we find out that Caiptain Worthy has left to investigate. Eva doesn't think of it much at the time since there seems to be no immediate danger.

Scene three: Eva visits back home to drop the supplies she acquired. She picks up her glider that she and her father had been working on. Her father is a worried about her going to the coast to try out her glider, since he had heard of the creatures also. Eva is much more reckless then her father, so she shrugs off the warning. Her father admits to let her go, since he values freedom above a lot of things.

Scene four: Eva meets up with her friend and they try out their respective gliders. They race, Eva wins. We get to see a bit more of the environment during the gliding. It gets late, and Eva's friend admits to buying her a drink from the tavern since he lost.

Scene five: They meet up at the tavern, most of the villagers gather here during this hour. There is more people than usual since they are waiting for Captain's return. He does return and talks to the villagers about the creatures. They are worried but the Captain is an inspiring gentleman, and assures everyone that they can fight back. Eva doubts herself, even though she likes adventure and adrenaline, she has never seen herself as a warrior.

Scene six: After departing from the tavern, Eva gets back home. Here, having heard of the creature situation, her father shows Eva something; A gun. It is an old looking blunderbus/rifle. He tells her about how it is supposed to "shoot" but had been broken. He had been working on a way to fix it using pieces of "ancient technology" that he had found. He teaches her how to use it in case of trouble. He has had enough of war himself, and had lost his wife to it, so he despises lethal weaponary, as a result he modified the weapon to be "non-lethal". Every projectile drains the energy of whomever it hits, causing them to faint.

Scene seven: The next morning, Eva wakes up to a loud noise. As she looks out the window, she sees a large machine flying towards the village center. She follows it. The shops are empty since everyone had the same idea as Eva. As she arrived at the village centre and joined up with the rest of the villagers, the machine landed. A bunch of people with odd - almost futuristic - looking people stepped out of it. The people talked to the villagers about an impending doom that can only be everted if the villagers all agree to move away. They offer shelter and a "better life under the one and only true goddess". The village elders debate for a while, but eventually the majority refuse the offer. "Come atop the nearby hill if you change your mind" the visitors say. As the visitors leave, not everyone in the village is happy about this desicion and blame the elders for dooming them all.

Scene eight: The villagers meet up. They bring up scraps of weapon and armor that had been left from a war they had endured years ago. seeing that they are ill equipped, those who are angry with the desicion of the elders are even angrier. A big argument breaks out, with the weapons in the room things get to the brink of ugliness. The argument gets broken up by a loud noise, the creatures had stared attacking the village. They are far bigger in quantity than the Captain had faced. They are overwhelmed. Everyone starts running to the "air ships" the elders had set up in case they had to abandon the island. Knowing her father is still in there, Eva rushes back home.

Scene nine: The village is being swarmed. There is chaos. People are either running to the air ships, or to the hill to be picked up by the visitors. Eva on the other hand, runs not to safety but to her Father. She does not have her gun with her thus her only option is to run away from the creatures.

Scene ten: Eva reaches back to her home but before she can enter, she is confronted by one of the people that were mad with the desicion of the village elders. It appears he wishes to kill the elders, and knowing Eva's father is one of them (even though he wasn't there to give the desicion) he had set out to kill him. Seeing Eva, he decides to kill her first. Noticing the situation her father comes out of hiding and tries to convince the man, but he is mad beyond hope. Eva is frozen solid, her father tries to run and save his daughter, but he is too late. The man pulls the trigger and all fades to black...

Act 2:

Scene one: Eva wakes up. The morning sun is shining brightly through the window. She looks outside to realise the house is flying. Apparently the whole house was built inside an air ship. She gets up and meets up with her father who is piloting the ship.

Scene two: After setting the ship up to fly straight, the two sit down to talk. Her father explains to her that she has a power. He had been examining "ancient technology" with a couple of fellow science folks, and his theory is that she has that technology infused with her. This isn't the first time she had cheated death. Apparently she had survived another fatal accident when she was a mere baby, one that took her mothers life away. She was given the nickname "Ever living" after that particular incident. Seeing how she survived two fatal blows, this couldn't have been luck. Her father belives that the technology she has been infused with, retroactively shields her from damaging blows, keeping her away from harm. She is not immortal though, as receiving fatal blows in succession could in fact pierce the shield and get her killed. Seeing how her daughter has this power, he agrees to help her join the fight against the creatures. In this part of the game most of the fighting mechanics are explained, the gun the differnt types of ammo, powerups and health management.

 Act 3a:

Scene one: Eva, her father and their allies, all gathered up on the air ship are on their way to confront the "goddess". Knowing how the goddess is probably very powerful and that Eva is also very powerful at this point, she decides to go in alone. It is night time, almost morning, still dark. They pull the ship near the castle. She parts her way with her allies and drops off with her glider onto the castle.

Scene two: The guards in the castle are very strong, but Eva can handle them. She makes her way to the throne room.

Scene three: She enters the throne room. The goddess dismisses the guards and starts talking to Eva. She is aware that Eva possesses abilities. She believes that Eva's abilities are traces of a prototype of her own. She had been experimenting with immortality, and the life saving shield was an early version of her current shield. She deduces that Eva is related to her, but seeing she had been immortal for over a thousand years, she is probably a very distant relative. Nonetheless, this information causes the "goddess" to be more kind to her, as she had been immortal for so long she had been losing her humanity, and the idea that she has a relative, something she hadn't had for centuries. The "goddess" explains to Eva, what she had created. An ignorant but happy civilization. They all worship her as if she is a god, nobody dares defy her, and she is able to keep everyone happy this way. Eva, a big fan of freedom, does not like the idea of living blindly, thus refuses her offer to join. They fight.

Scene four: Eva manages to take down the goddess. However, her voice still echoes thourgh the castle, what she had destroyed were merely one of the many vessels in her command. Two more pop up and start to go after her. She realises that she has no way of taking the goddess down by fighting these vessels, she has no option but to run away.

Scene five: The vessels chase her all the way to a balcony. Her gun gets destroyed. She is cornered. The "goddess" tries to convince her to realise that it is pointless to fight. She is basically immortal. The sun starts to rise, and Eva sees her allies in the distance. Regaining hope, she refuses the offer and casts herself odd from the balcony. It's a long way down.

Scene six: Eva uses her glider to try and land safely. Her glider is designed to ride the wind or fly short distances, falling from such a height is not desireable. She manages to land safely enough.

Scene seven: She is quite the misfit. People who notice her do realise that she isn't from around. She overhears some talk about people looking for her. She has to avoid the guards as best as she can since she doesn't have a way of fighting. This part of the game heavily relies on her knowledge of how technology works. This civilization utilises tehcnology under disguise (only the "goddess" knows how things work). While traversing the town, we get to see more of how the civilization works. People appear very happy, yet people seem to believe in "magic", believe in the "goddess" and those who question her get "banished". She finally manages to climb atop the border wall, and reach her allies.
